Everyone can make magic, says our expert - even you

Ive been doing a lot of gardening enhancing the environs of my
new home in Zephyrhills. Having recently moved to Pasco County from Alachua County,
Ive been delighted to learn that the eco-system is quite similar to North
Floridas, and not the deep, sandy, scrub of Pinellas or Hillsborough counties.
As a metaphysical soul, I love to see the multiple layers of reality - the me
who commutes to an editing job; the me who digs in the dirt and worries about whether the
day lilies are getting enough sun and water.
As I weed the garden and water my plants, I am shifting my own reality, my own sense of
self and in the process, making magic. Magic you ask? Posh and nonsense, right?
No, I mean making magic!
Magic is the art of changing consciousness at will and in the process empowering or
healing yourself and others for the betterment of all. Its really very simple
everyone can make magic!
When you change someones reality, you are making magic. Think of it as the
Butterfly Effect, or the Gaia Hypothesis.
Even the laws of physics blend nicely into the concept of magic - for every action
there is an equal and opposite reaction. You pull - something is moved!
Surely when youve looked into the eyes of a beloved and felt the earth move as
you made love, youve understood the concept of magic.
Baking bread while you meditate on how this floury concoction will feed your family,
and when you taste the yeast and grain and realize it connects you to the dirt and the
rain and in sensing that connection, you are making magic.
What if you arent a cook? Consider your childs school - you can participate
in school activities, see what areas the PTA is struggling with, maybe they need someone
to take on a project, or maybe they need someone to speak to the School Board about the
curriculum being taught.
Becoming involved changes your own reality, which in turn changes the reality of those
around you.
What if you dont have children but you love clean streams and parks? Ally
yourself to the countys parks for Earth Day and help in environmental cleanups - you
are making magic.
Go on, make some magic!
Barbara Grahams day job is that of an editor, but her avocation is gardening
and making magic.
