Thomas Barsley's bomb shelter
Mr. Clontz,
I read your brief story on Thomas Barsley residing in his bomb
shelter. I must tell you, for a moment, I could hardly gather my thoughts.
Then I began with the popular theories of how sad, lonely or misled he is. But after
a few moments I realized how wrong I was.
All humans live in one world, the one we create in our mind. That
is why some people seem to walk merrily along while the world is falling down around them
and some live in a constant catastrophic event that others cannot see.
Because I successfully receive treatment for bi-polar disease I am very
cautious to question any person's sanity and fearful of people who do. I am certain
it has been said that Mr. Barsley is some version of "crazy" many times.
While that may seem like a reasonable assumption, in fact, Mr Barsley has been able to
achieve a level of peace and happiness that most of us only dream of. And he's found
it in the privacy of his own mind. Who could deny him the pleasure we all strive for
yet few of us find?
Isn't Life Funny?
